Lighting Designer 1
About The Position
EwingCole is a nationally recognized architecture, engineering, interior design and planning firm with offices across the country. Our multi-disciplinary practice is built on the core values of professional excellence, design quality and collaboration. We are looking for an Lighting Designer 1 to join our team in our Philadelphia or Wayne office. The Lighting Designer 1 supports senior lighting designers on design and documentation efforts. This role applies foundational lighting design knowledge to develop lighting concepts, perform calculations, and produce coordinated documentation across all phases of a project. The Lighting Designer I contributes to client deliverables, participates in coordination with project teams, and supports the development of junior staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design or Theater
- E.I.T. or Lighting Certification (LC) Intern encouraged
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam and the Microsoft Suite software
Responsibilities
- Composes and notates production documentation appropriately, including lighting plans, details, and coordinated drawing sets
- Demonstrates the ability to apply the correct software tool to the task
- Applies knowledge gained and coordinates with other project team members
- Supports the project team in all phases of project documentation
- References applicable codes in the development of projects
- References company standards in the development of projects
- Applies an understanding of sustainability and energy efficiency concepts to projects
- Enhances the key aspects of a design with the addition of detail, including development of lighting layouts, fixture selections, and lighting control system concepts
- Acquires knowledge of lighting products and control systems and evaluates appropriate applications
- Assists with submittal reviews, RFIs and reports on site observations
- References codes, standards and best practices to analyze lighting conditions and develop calculations
- Communicates lighting design intent to project teams
- Develops a basic understanding of project management and budgeting
- Gains exposure to specification editing in application to a project
