About The Position

Gasser Bush Associates is seeking a full-time Lighting Controls Field Technician to commission and program lighting control systems from multiple vendors. The technician works with contractors and facilities customers, as well as GBA Controls support, project managers, and sales staff throughout the construction process.

The role is responsible for commissioning networked lighting control systems at customers’ completed job locations. The employee is based in the Livonia office, with day-to-day work in the field throughout northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. The position also involves troubleshooting, warranty and service calls, end-user training, and coordinating job-site reporting. Travel is required as needed, including training trips two to three times per year for up to four days at a time.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree or completion of a related technical college program.
• Experience with lighting software.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to read and understand electrical plans.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and workload to meet project deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and interact effectively with others.
• Ability to adapt to unexpected project changes.
• Experience with low-voltage, digital, and network communication systems.
• Willingness to travel as required, including training trips two to three times per year for up to four days at a time.

Nice To Haves

• Lighting experience is preferred.
• Understanding of wireless protocols such as BLE 802.15.1, Zigbee 802.15.4, and Wi-Fi 802.11 is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Configure systems according to project intent and the sequence of operations in specifications.
• Troubleshoot lighting control systems and related lighting components.
• Provide warranty support and respond to service calls.
• Coordinate and conduct end-user training sessions to complete projects.
• Manage job-site reporting in coordination with the Field Services Scheduler.
• Meet with contractors during the pre-installation phase.
• Coordinate with commissioning partners on jobs.
• Provide inside sales support.
• Pursue continuous improvement and professional development.
