About The Position

The Light Tech I will be responsible for performing mechanical repairs on automotive, gasoline-power off-road equipment, and shop facility duties. This role may involve travel to various shops and locations across the Los Angeles County area.

Requirements

Must have a valid Class C Driver’s License.
2-4 years of automotive experience or vocational technical school.
Must complete County requirement Live Scan.
Must be able to maintain a safety-minded approach on all work performed.
Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion.
Problem-solving skills with an analytical thought process.
Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and work in any of the five shop facilities.

Nice To Haves

ASE certified or be willing to obtain one (1) certification within three months of employment.
May be required to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 lbs.
Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday.

Responsibilities

Performs automotive skill level I vehicle maintenance on a variety of gasoline-power equipment.
Performs vehicles Preventive Maintenance, replaces oil and air filters, troubleshoots and repairs starting system, brakes system, and charging system.
Checks and maintains automotive fluids levels such as gas, oil, antifreeze, water, and air.
Performs quick-fixed maintenance, patch-repair and replace tires, install/replace windshield wipers and light bulbs.
Performs troubleshooting and repairs for Electric Vehicles (EV) and hybrid models.
Performs fuel pump maintenance and repairs, checks fuel levels and maintains up-to-date inventories.
Assists the Detail Technician with washing and polishing of customer's vehicles and removes decals when required.
Parks, jump-starts, picks up and delivers County vehicles as needed to any vendor or County facility.
Maintains daily vehicles accountability, parked location, lane, and vehicle status.
Picks up and delivers vehicles to County, Centerra Integrated facilities, and any vendors as required.
Road-tests vehicles on public streets and highways when required and drives to any of the five shop locations.
Cleans, sweeps, mops, and takes out trash in working bays and common work areas.
Ensures the safe handling and storage of chemicals and cleaners used in performing daily work duties.
Abides by established safety standards to meet local safety policies and uses Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Reports to various regional locations as required.
Other duties as assigned.
