Operates various pieces of light equipment for the purpose of street repair and maintenance, maintains equipment and performs other duties as assigned. Receives direct supervision from Superintendent Street/Drainage. Operates light equipment for the purpose of street repair and maintenance. Equipment includes, but it is not limited to: operating pneumatic rollers, wheel loaders, street sweepers, sand spreaders, water trucks, distributor trucks, dump trucks, crack sealing machines, and herbicide sprayer. Be familiar with back hoe and loader. Performs other duties by operating hand tools for wood working, metal fabrication and other jobs, completing tree and limb trimming and brush removal, and completing minor sidewalk, curb and gutter repair, other concrete installation and repair. Maintains equipment by performing preventative maintenance and repair of equipment and vehicles. Operation of light and heavy equipment and motorized vehicles in the maintenance and repair of City streets to include tractors with shredders and brush chipper. Haul materials and will assist in road repair, asphalt work, and operation of street sweeper. Performs routine preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure serviceability of equipment and makes minor field repairs and adjustments. Performs other essential duties as required to achieve successful operations of the department and to perform labor duties when not operating construction equipment. On call schedule required. The employee must have the ability to work well with others and have a good/pleasant attitude. Performs other essential duties as required to achieve successful operations of the department. Must be able to follow directions. Regular and timely attendance is an essential job function.
