About The Position

The light duty mechanic is responsible for the performance of the following duties in a safe and productive manner.

Requirements

  • Follow all procedures and safety measures to assure safe production
  • Work in all conditions and environments, approximately 15% of job is outdoors
  • Able to lift 50 lbs. on an occasional basis
  • Able to walk up and down slopes and uneven ground daily
  • Able to bend and stoop, craw on a continuous basis (access machines as needed)
  • Work as a team member and communicate openly with others
  • Self-directed and able to take leadership role on many projects
  • Willing to stop work for safety concerns and always abide by safety best practices, policies and procedures
  • Rotation of work assignments to maintain training
  • Ability to work alone

Nice To Haves

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • A vocational-technical college degree
  • 1-3 years’ experience in light duty vehicle maintenance
  • Experience with OBDII scan tool and code reading
  • Medium Duty/Diesel Mechanic experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily lubrication tasks on light duty vehicles on site.
  • Operates and inspects machines and equipment to diagnose/trouble shoot defects
  • Perform regularly scheduled PM services on light duty equipment: pickups, buses, vans, etc.
  • Maintains vehicles’ functional condition by reviewing operators’ cards, current Work Orders and conducting inspections.
  • Repairs mechanical and electrical system malfunctions and replaces parts and components.
  • Verifies vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives, adjusting controls, and updating systems.
  • Maintain service equipment such as hoists, jacks, scanners and other equipment needed to perform required duties
  • Assist in keeping an accurate and up-to-date record of any PM services performed
  • Ensure operators (light vehicle operators) satisfaction by listening to their concerns, communicating equipment status, performing quality repairs, and prioritizing needs.
  • Dismantle and reassemble equipment as necessary
  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges
  • Assist in the ordering of parts
  • Assist in scheduling and prioritizing of equipment maintenance
  • Create work orders and job requests when necessary
  • Close work orders with notes regularly
  • Perform daily workplace and equipment safety inspections
  • Maintain a clean and citation-free mine site environment
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Assist other team members as needed
