About The Position

We seek an experienced, self-motivated individual with a positive work ethic for the fleet maintenance mechanic position. This position primarily supports all aspects of mechanical service for our customers. It involves working on customer sites for fleet maintenance, ensuring a positive customer experience. All tasks must adhere to company policies, procedures, and industry standards, and employees should not undertake work they are not trained for.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a mechanic or technician, with familiarity with both diesel and gasoline engines.
  • Understanding of vehicle components, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Proficient in using hand tools, diagnostic scanners, and heavy equipment.
  • Provides own tools.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects (often up to 50+ lbs) and work in varying weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Explain mechanical diagnosis and repairs to non-mechanical individuals as required.
  • Provide repair recommendations, list the required parts, and estimate the hours required to perform the repairs using industry-standard labor guidelines.
  • List all items needing attention, whether maintenance, safety, or other.
  • Road-test automobiles and perform vehicle and digital inspections, submitting written findings to sales staff.
  • Perform repairs to specifications (wheel alignments, steering/suspension systems, brake systems, light engine work, battery, alternator, belts, tune-ups, scan codes, sensors, flushes, etc.).
  • Maintain service standards of cleanliness and orderliness of space and equipment in the service department (e.g., alignment machines, lifts, brake lathes, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate service records, repair logs, and maintenance schedules.
  • Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions.
  • Keep store management informed of service-area mechanical repair issues as they arise.
  • Comply with company safety policy and federal/state OSHA safety requirements, which include but are not limited to the wearing of approved eye/ear protection, proper lifting techniques, and proper footwear.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Observe all rules and procedures as trained and under Company policy.
