Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 5+ years of related experience OR Master's degree in Engineering with 3+ years of related experience, OR PhD in Engineering
  • U.S. Citizen

  • Experience and demonstrated capability in root cause investigation, including evidence-based methods
  • Experience in safety investigations (Red Tops) involving Rolls-Royce products.
  • Experience and knowledge of LiftSystem product line
  • Breadth of Turbomachinery (compressor and blisks) engineering experience across engineering functions: design, performance, validation/verification, customer application, certification/qualification, maintenance & overhaul, repair, field service, etc.
  • Proven ability to exercise sound technical and business judgement.
  • Knowledge of components/ systems functionality and numerical methods
  • Experience in support/lead cross-functional teams e.g. specialists, suppliers, customers, partners
  • Ability to analyze fleet data and determine risk factors and plans.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical team in the design, manufacture, development, and demonstration testing of components and subsystems for the LiftSystem program.
  • Ensure that all sub-system definitions meet all program requirements by providing technical mentoring and leadership to the rest of the team.
  • Provide technical leadership and coaching to members of an Integrated Product Team through all design and development phases from concept design through engine certification and introduction to service, including design, hardware manufacture/procurement, assembly, development and verification testing, certification reports, etc.
  • Work closely with the subsystem PDM and IPT Lead to develop project technical scoping and resource planning, to ensure risks are identified and properly mitigated, to define the subsystem verification strategy, and lead analysis and troubleshooting based on test data and hardware reviews.
  • Coordinate with Whole Engine (rotor-dynamics, secondary flow, thermals, WEM) and other subsystem teams to define and integrate a subsystem technical solution that supports an optimized engine system solution.
  • Participate in and ensure the team is prepared for all gated reviews, subsystem/component design reviews, customer design reviews, flight clearance reviews, safety reviews, and technical audits.
  • Ensure subsystem/IPT component compliance to requirements by reviewing/approving engineering work, IPT layouts, interface control documents, drawings/MBDs, assembly instructions, subsystem development and verification test plans (rig and engine), and technical reports.
  • Conduct technical presentations of engineering analysis and results to internal/external Rolls-Royce customers and represent Rolls-Royce as the customer interface for technical issues.
