About The Position

The Lift Team Technician is responsible for any requests for patient lifts throughout the hospital, including all clinics on campus, in patient rooms, and wherever there is a need. Primary responsibility is to provide safe lifting and transfers of patients requiring more than one person to perform the task. Displays strength in times of stress and disorder in order to meet the needs of the patient. Independently problem solves in order to effectively move a patient, without injuring the patient or the staff. Attends the campus assessment team calls. Gives advice and collaborates with nursing staff for moving patients. Responds quickly and with high efficiency to emergency situations, such as when a patient falls. Provides assistance in moving the patient to safety. Builds rapport with patients and assists with aggressive behavior. Demonstrates strong communication skills due to working throughout all of the hospital campus. In addition to lifting patients and responding to other unexpected or unusual occurrences, delivers large equipment to specified units. May also perform Patient Care Technician (PCT) duties while assisting in the Emergency Department (ED) and other nursing units, for example: prepare patient treatment areas for use; prepare and clean medical equipment; dispose of biomedical waste in accordance with standards and policy; Maintains good body mechanics and lifting technique for lifts and transfers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications, including Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB).

Nice To Haves

  • One year of healthcare industry experience preferred.
