About The Position

PTC is a leading manufacturer and marketer of welded and cold-drawn mechanical steel tubing and tubular shapes, plated bar and tubing, and fabricated parts and precision components. The Operator will unload coils from the slitter and stage them in the coil bay. The slit coils will then be loaded onto the mill turnstile as needed.

Requirements

• High School or equivalent education.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Understanding that all employees have a shared responsibility for the quality of products and related services provided to our customers.
• Duties and responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with the PTC Quality Management System and its policies, procedures, and work instructions as applicable to the job or function being performed.
• Regularly required to stand, and/or walk, and/or use arms and hands to load and unload material for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to safely lift and load 50lbs.
• Must be able to work outside in a variety of conditions.
• Candidates must be able to tolerate any climate.
• Must be flexible with shift and hours.

Nice To Haves

• Manufacturing experience is a plus.
• Forklift certified.
• Crane certified is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Unload coils from the slitter and stage them in coil bay.
• Load slit coils onto the mill turnstile as needed.
• Check for bad edges on mults coming from the slitter.
• Identify and mark coils in sequential order to be loaded onto the turnstile at the mill.
• Transfer the coil sequence to mill order and distribute to the operators and QC.
• Perform daily checklist for the Hyster 360, and turn in to supervisor.
• Direct and assist in roll changes and set ups.
• Assist in minor maintenance repairs.
• Fill out necessary log sheets.
• Turn in required repair lists.
• Keep work area and equipment clean.
• Maintain safe working conditions.
