About The Position

Under the direction of the Materials Manager, this person is responsible for storing and retrieving finished fabric, and loading trailers for shipment. This role involves operating a lift truck to move materials, recording inventory locations, and ensuring proper unitization of products. The position also requires adherence to safety standards, performing housekeeping duties, and assisting with manual handling of materials.

Requirements

  • Understanding of textile manufacturing methods
  • Problem-solving skills
  • PC skills to include MS Excel/Word, PowerPoint and Basics
  • Effective business communication; basic report writing methods and techniques; correct English usage, including spelling, grammar and punctuation
  • Ability to read, write, and speak and understand English, in order to interpret documents such as specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, reports, business correspondence, regulatory and procedure manuals
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to record numbers on required paperwork
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with co-workers, Supervisors and Managements.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision and be a team player
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety standards
  • Store finished fabric using a lift truck to move cartons or wrapped rolls from packing storage in the warehouse, and use portable computer/scanners to record bin locations.
  • Retrieve finished fabric by getting pull sheets and using a lift truck to move fabric from bins to the staging area.
  • Use pallets and a hand strapper to unitize cartons as required.
  • Use a stretch wrap machine to unitize wrapped rolls as required.
  • Use a lift truck to move finished fabric from the staging area to an over-the-road trailer.
  • Assist with manual handling of individual rolls.
  • Perform necessary housekeeping duties.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
