About The Position

Be the backbone of the mountain. Keep the resort moving by being a Lift Maintenance Crew member. Under the guidance of senior technicians, you will assist with routine, preventive, and specialized maintenance on various lift systems and conveyors to ensure safety compliance and minimize downtime. You will accurately document all inspection and repair activities while collaborating closely with the operations team and external contractors. Additionally, you will actively participate in provided training to master safety protocols, emergency responses, and evolving industry standards. Previous ski lift experience is a plus, but not required. What we do need is someone who is safe, career-minded, team-oriented, and has a positive attitude.

Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and carry items up to 70 lbs. repetitively
  • Be able to fluently speak and write the English language.
  • Must have valid Driver's license & ability to pass MVR check that meets company standards.
  • Must be able to see and hear.
  • Must be able to work in variable alpine temperatures.
  • Be prepared and able to perform job tasks at heights exceeding 60 feet using approved positioning and fall protection equipment. This will require climbing ladders on occasion to reach those heights.
  • May require working at these heights for 2 - 4 hours at a time due to specific job tasks.
  • Be prepared and able to stand in a relatively stationary position for extended periods (2 - 4 hours) to perform specific maintenance functions.
  • Elevated work platforms that limit movement during standard maintenance are part of the work environment.
  • Be prepared and able to endure extended periods of equipment operation, i.e., snowmobiles and other off road vehicles.
  • Adverse weather should be expected and operating time may be 3 - 5 hours per work shift.
  • Be prepared and able to work extended hours (10 + hours/day) in a safe manner and in all adverse working conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous ski lift experience is a plus, but not required.
  • High School degree or equivalent.
  • Some experience with hand tools and basic mechanical skills is preferred.
  • Familiarity with basic electrical concepts and tasks.
  • Understanding safety procedures and protocols, with a strong commitment to maintaining a safe working environment, is essential.
  • Keen attention to detail is necessary for performing accurate inspections and recording maintenance activities.
  • You should be capable of working in varying weather conditions and performing physically demanding tasks, including lifting and climbing.
  • Willingness to work as part of a team, follow instructions, and support colleagues in maintenance tasks is essential.
  • Basic communication skills to report issues, follow instructions, and collaborate effectively with team members are required.
  • Enthusiasm for learning new skills and techniques in lift maintenance and a readiness to participate in ongoing training and development is expected.
  • A genuine interest in the ski industry and a passion for working in a mountain environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with Routine Maintenance: Help perform routine inspections, repairs, and maintenance on fixed grip chairlifts, detachable chairlifts, surface lifts, and conveyors, under the guidance of senior technicians and supervisors.
  • Participate in Preventive Maintenance: Contribute to preventive maintenance programs to ensure compliance with safety regulations and help maximize the lifespan of lift equipment.
  • Support Specialized Repairs: Assist with specialized repairs, equipment upgrades, and annual inspections, and work alongside external contractors as needed.
  • Document Activities: Accurately record maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs following company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Learn and Follow Protocols: Adhere to proper maintenance procedures, safety protocols, and emergency response protocols, with training and hands-on practice provided.
  • Coordinate with Operations: Collaborate with the operations team to support the smooth operation and reduce downtime of tramway systems.
  • Stay Informed: Keep up-to-date with industry standards, technological advancements, and regulatory changes related to lift maintenance and safety through ongoing learning and training opportunities provided by the company.
