About The Position
Reporting directly to the Director of Animal Services, this role is responsible for overseeing all animal outcome related programs, including adoption, volunteer, foster, marketing/media, community programs, fundraising, and transport. The position aids in sustaining a 90% or higher Save Rate and upholds the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter (WCRAS) mission and promotes its goals.
Requirements
- High school diploma and five (5) years of management experience, to include three (3) years animal welfare or community work or four (4) years in development or media; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of animal welfare
- Demonstrated management knowledge to include basic statistical methods, fiscal and budgeting practices and procedures
- Previous experience in event planning
- Valid driver’s license (Required within thirty (30) days of employment)
Nice To Haves
- Bachelors degree in a related field
- Prior experience with Oracle software, Kronos software, and PetPoint Management Certification
Responsibilities
- Supervises the flow of the animals through the shelter in order to promote outcomes and reduce the length of stay
- Hires, schedules, promotes, disciplines, and terminates all direct staff
- Directs work and provides feedback, evaluations, and training for all Adoption Specialists and volunteers
- Collaborates with the Operations Manager to aid with animal transports
- Assumes all duties of any paid direct employees on a temporary or emergency basis
- Monitors timecards for all direct employees and approves and enters time off requests
- Conducts staff meetings to review procedures and workplace issues, and facilitate improvements and morale
- Ensures shelter software is consistently utilized, updated, and audited
- Oversees the shelter messaging and communication with the community
- Monitors the volunteer and foster programs’ recruitment and retention
- Manages the shelter’s satellite adoption center, ensuring high adoption rates
- Collaborates with staff to create specific outcome plans as needed
- Reviews the monetary donations received to ensure needs are met
- Corresponds with national animal welfare organizations to aid in the shelter’s mission
- Provides 24/7 response to foster families on emergency basis for medical needs and/or approval of emergency medical treatments at alternative facilities
- Establishes, strengthens, and maintains relationships with community agencies, animal welfare organizations, and professional associations
- Reports all loss, risk, and safety issues or conditions to Director
- Defines and develops volunteer and foster standard operating guidelines and ensures compliance within the teams
- Participates in continuing education opportunities to ensure compliance with industry standards, and to remain current on animal care/control issues
- Educates the community about shelter programs and hosts various events
- Participates in weekly leadership and quarterly Board meetings, prepares agendas, reports, and budgetary updates
- Acts as temporary public information officer for the shelter, making all media decisions, in absence of Director
- Attends all meetings and trainings, as required
- Performs special duties as assigned
