About The Position

Responsible for the safety of the patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies. This role involves recognizing emergencies and responding effectively, enforcing all aquatic rules, policies, and regulations, inspecting the facility for safety, completing paperwork, participating in training, signing in bathers, and maintaining cleanliness of the pool area.

Requirements

• Current certification in American Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard Training/First Aid
• Current certification in American Red Cross or American Heart CPR for the Professional Rescuer
• Current certification in American Red Cross Waterfront Life guarding, if working at 5-Mile Pond

Nice To Haves

• Thorough knowledge of life guarding surveillance and rescue techniques
• An understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies, and procedures
• Leadership and public relation skills
• Decision making skills

Responsibilities

• Recognize emergencies and respond to them effectively
• Enforce all aquatic rules, policies, and regulations to ALL patrons
• Inspect the facility before opening and closing to report any unsafe conditions or equipment to the supervisor
• Complete all paperwork during shifts
• Participate in regular in-service training sessions
• Sign-in all bathers using the facility
• Pick up any and all types of trash in and around the pool facility
