About The Position

PRCS is actively recruiting certified lifeguards for both summer and year-round opportunities at indoor and outdoor pools throughout the county. The role involves ensuring the safety and well-being of diverse communities, requiring a positive outlook, excellent communication skills, and self-motivation. PRCS serves a broad spectrum of the population, including youth, adults, individuals with disabilities, and seniors. Hiring is taking place at multiple locations including Ashburn Recreation & Community Center, Dulles South Recreation & Community Center, Claude Moore Recreation & Community Center, Round Hill Aquatics Center Indoor Pool, Franklin Park Outdoor Pool (Summer Only), and Lovettsville Community Center Outdoor Pool (Summer Only).

Requirements

  • Must be at least 15 years of age (Lifeguard I)
  • Must have HS Diploma (or equivalent) (Lifeguard II)
  • Hold the Red Cross Lifeguard Certification at the time of hire or obtain it within 30 days of hire.
  • Must undergo a criminal background check.
  • Obtain Lifeguard Certification; First Aid Certification; and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors the use of aquatic facilities and equipment to ensure visitor and participant safety within the facility and compliance with applicable safety policies and practices.
  • Rescues distressed persons, using rescue techniques and equipment.
  • Contacts emergency medical personnel in case of serious injury.
  • Provides emergency care and treatment as required.
  • Enforces pool rules.
  • Provides courteous and timely customer service to County staff, facility visitors and users.
  • Refers customers to appropriate staff.
  • Other key job duties relevant to the specific role and department may also be performed.
