About The Position

This role involves program responsibilities including opening the pool on time, greeting members, assisting in aquatic special events, monitoring lap swimmers, enforcing pool rules, providing courteous service, reporting accidents, wearing appropriate attire, attending staff meetings, securing pool doors, and communicating promotions. The position requires weekday/opening availability and weekend availability.

Requirements

  • Minimum 16 years old
  • Current Ellis Lifeguard certification and current certifications in CPR, First Aid, AED and O2
  • Maintains "Test Ready" Standards
  • Must be able to perform all physical tasks of a Lifeguard. Includes lifting adult from pool onto pool deck.
  • Complete program specific and employee orientation training by required timeline.
  • Requirement Position is extended, upon successful completion of ELLIS Lifeguarding course

Responsibilities

  • Arrive on deck, in uniform, ready to open pool promptly at scheduled time.
  • Smile and greet members courteously.
  • Assist in planning, organizing and implementing a full composition of aquatic special events to include but not be limited to lap swim incentives and water walking incentives.
  • Monitor lap swimmers and designate fast or slow lanes when required.
  • Explain class and pool procedure to program participants, enforcing all posted pool rules.
  • Provide friendly courteous service to all members, clients and volunteers of the YMCA.
  • Report all accidents and incidents to supervisor on appropriate forms.
  • Wear appropriate lifeguard attire as requested by supervisor.
  • Attend all staff meetings scheduled by supervisor.
  • Secure ALL pool doors at the end of your shift unless properly relieved by another certified staff member.
  • Communicate to all program participants and all members all program and membership promotions.
