About The Position

Position Overview The Lifeguard is responsible for always ensuring the safety of swimmers and members in the pool and surrounding pool area. They participate in pool activities and ensure that members and guests are following pool procedures.

Requirements

  • One (1) year in related field(s)
  • American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, American Red Cross Lifeguarding & American Red Cross First Aid
  • Previous experience in pool life guarding
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Skill in the application of life guarding surveillance and rescue techniques
  • Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with groups participating in pool activities, and to provide necessary instruction to youth and/or staff.
  • Ability to communicate and train youth in safety regulations and emergency procedures

Nice To Haves

  • WSI Certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Greets members and guests and facilitates member and guest sign-in process.
  • Maintains constant surveillance of members in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of an emergency.
  • Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
  • Always presents professional appearance and attitude and maintains a high standard of customer service.
  • Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
  • Prepares and maintains appropriate maintenance reports.
  • Always utilizes appropriate pool apparatuses and gear, especially during rescues.
  • Checks first aid kit and supplies and reports items needed to the Pool Director.
  • Administers to minor injuries such as small cuts and bruises of swimmers.
  • Responds with Pool Director to all Incident reports.
  • Maintains a fresh supply of towels by washing and folding towels based on leadership direction.
  • Enforces pool rules of conduct informally.
  • Maintains a lost and found area at the pool.
  • Monitors pool games.
  • Cleans restrooms and pool area on a regular basis as per pool procedures.
  • Participates in training as required by Pool Director.
  • Extracts debris from pool surface and throughout day as needed.
  • Attends meetings and clinics as per Pool Director.
  • Prepares for all home swim meets per Pool Director.
  • Always follows pool code of conduct.
  • Makes every reasonable effort to continually improve the way the job is performed and increase the quality of service to members and guests.
  • Attends and participates in team, departmental, and Club meetings as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.
