About The Position

The Lifeguard role is to supervise and promote safety in Eden Prairie pools and beaches. This is a part-time, ongoing position with a flexible schedule, typically 5 to 20 hours per week from September through May, and 30 to 40 hours per week from June through August. The position is located at the Eden Prairie Community Center and local beaches, with availability for daytime and evening hours seven days a week. The role involves assisting the head guard, ensuring facility safety and cleanliness, enforcing policies, completing safety checks, and potentially assisting with swimming lessons. While these are primary duties, teamwork is emphasized, and employees may be asked to perform various tasks.

Requirements

  • Must be 15 years of age
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
  • Must have the ability to swim a minimum of 500 yards and can lift and move objects.
  • Lifeguard Training, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid Certifications are required for this position, but you do not have to be certified to apply. Training available upon hire.
  • Candidates invited to an interview will be asked to complete and successfully pass the City’s evaluation of a skills assessment prior to a conditional job offer.
  • Candidates must successfully complete and pass the City’s evaluation of the pre-employment process prior to their first day of employment. Pre-employment processes for this position includes professional reference checks, background check, work verification.

  • Assists the head guard in supervising beaches/pools operations to meet the needs of the community.
  • Ensures a safe, clean and well-maintained facility.
  • Enforces all beach/pool policies in a consistent, professional manner.
  • Completes facility safety checks and reports.
  • Assists with teaching of swimming lessons.
