About The Position

Performs lifesaving skills, provides instructional swimming lessons to children and adults, and performs routine maintenance on pool and pool facilities. Monitors all activities within the pool facility and maintains a flexible schedule for rotation to various pool sites.

Requirements

Ability to perform lifesaving skills, pool maintenance, recordkeeping, sanitation and instruction
Ability to maintain good planning and organizational skills
Ability to take and follow directions from supervisor
Ability to give directions to and gain compliance from assigned staff
Ability to perform strenuous and routine work
Ability to maintain harmonious and effective working relationships with other employees and respond to general public complaints
Ability to project a positive and professional image of the City of Laredo
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language
Ability to comply with all City of Laredo's policies and procedures
Ability to maintain good health and physical condition sufficient to permit the full performance of the duties of the position
Ability to maintain a valid Texas Driver License and a good driving record
Physically able to perform lifesaving skills, pool maintenance, recordkeeping, sanitation, and instruction
Must be able to perform swimming pool duties as required
Must be responsible, reliable, and prompt
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Lifeguard Certificate is required
First Aid Certificate is required
CPR for Pro Certificate is required
Valid Texas Driver License

Nice To Haves

If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained prior to employment.

Responsibilities

Perform sanitation daily
Vacuuming
Filtration
Maintain pool grounds indoor/outdoors
Communicate and work well with others
Participate and attend workshops
Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with co-workers and the general public
Assist in maintaining good communication between staff, visitors, and other business contacts
Follow all rules of telephone courtesy in all telephone communications
Perform other duties as assigned
