Requirements

  • Current Lifeguard certification (Red Cross or equivalent) required
  • CPR and First Aid certification required
  • Strong swimming ability and water rescue skills
  • Ability to recognize hazards and make sound decisions quickly
  • Ability to remain focused and attentive for extended periods
  • Reliable transportation to meet scheduling needs
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Effective communicator in verbal and written English
  • Comfortable working around animals and pets
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. independently and assist with heavier loads as needed

Responsibilities

  • Monitor swimmers and aquatic areas to prevent accidents, injuries, and unsafe behavior
  • Maintain continuous surveillance of the pool area and surrounding environment
  • Enforce all pool rules, safety standards, and emergency procedures
  • Recognize and respond to safety risks and emergency situations, including water rescues
  • Provide first aid, CPR, and AED support within certification guidelines until emergency responders arrive
  • Conduct routine inspections of the pool area, rescue equipment, and safety supplies; report concerns promptly
  • Complete incident and accident reports accurately and timely
  • Assist with opening, closing, cleaning, and general upkeep of the aquatic facility
  • Deliver friendly, professional service to residents, families, guests, and team members
  • Participate in required trainings, safety drills, and certification renewals
  • Interact with residents living with dementia or cognitive impairments, demonstrating patience, compassion, and professionalism
  • Maintain a calm and supportive presence, even in emotionally complex situations
  • Respond appropriately to behaviors such as confusion, agitation, or distress
  • Support residents and families with empathy during moments of stress or uncertainty
