About The Position

The Full-Time Hourly Aquatics staff member is responsible for providing a safe, welcoming, and high-quality experience for members and participants through lifeguarding, swim instruction, program support, and operational assistance. This position serves as a direct service role within the Aquatics Department and supports the daily operation of aquatic facilities, programs, and services.

Requirements

• Minimum age of 18 years.
• Current Lifeguarding, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers, and First Aid certifications required.
• Strong communication, customer service, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of lifeguarding and swim instruction.

Nice To Haves

• Swim Instructor certification preferred or willingness to obtain within a timeframe established by aquatics leadership.

Responsibilities

• Provide lifeguard coverage and emergency response in accordance with YMCA and American Red Cross standards.
• Plan and teach swim lessons and aquatic programs as assigned.
• Deliver exceptional member service and build positive relationships with participants and families.
• Support aquatics programs, special events, trainings, and department initiatives.
• Maintain required certifications and complete all required certification updates and renewals.
• Attend and actively participate in required trainings, in-services, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities.
• Assist with maintaining a clean, organized, and safe aquatic environment.
• Serve as a positive role model for staff, members, and participants.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
