About The Position

Responsible for surveying a body of water and conducting rescues to help weak or injured swimmers get to safety. Duties include speaking with swimmers to enforce swimming rules, keeping track of each swimmer in the water and administering first aid to injured swimmers.

Requirements

  • Calm under pressure to administer aid to those in distress.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, be polite, and present a neat appearance at all times.
  • The ability to work with others as a team in an efficient manner.
  • The ability to apply common sense reasoning to variety of situations.
  • Proven experience providing high level of guest service.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • The ability to read, write, comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
  • The availability to work all shifts.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stressful situations.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation and obtain and maintain all work cards as required by the company.
  • The ability to verify the right to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Two or more years of lifeguard experience preferred.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment in-water practical skills test and written test.

Responsibilities

  • Listen and respond to guest inquiries using a positive, clear speaking voice.
  • Answer questions and offer assistance to provide guest satisfaction.
  • Relay accurate information to guests regarding hours of operation, Hotel services, directions to local attractions or function rooms, shuttle service, etc.
  • Rescue and/or give first aid or CPR to accident victims, or help fellow lifeguard provide care.
  • Enforce all facility rules and regulations.
  • Maintain the beach area, including trash and litter removal.
  • Prevent injuries by minimizing or eliminating hazardous situations or behaviors.
  • Recognize and respond quickly and effectively to all emergency situations.
  • Ability to determine if injuries are life threatening or require administration of first aid.
  • Knowledge and skills needed to properly operate a backup, neck brace, life ring, telescoping hook, first aid kit, etc. in emergency situations.
  • Ability to withstand exposure to summer sun and temperatures, as well as noise, dust, fumes, etc. associated with both pool and beach environments.
  • Ability to remain alert throughout the duration of the shift and remain calm during emergency situations.
  • Ability to effectively deal with customer complaints and concerns in a friendly and positive manner. This involves listening to the nature of the concern, demonstrating empathy with the customer and providing positive and proactive solutions.
  • Directing swimmers out of water in dangerous conditions.
  • Explaining and enforcing rules, regulations, and policies to ensure the safety of guests.
  • Ensure appropriate wristband distribution and monitor usage throughout stay.
  • All other duties as assigned.
