Many of the innovative programs and vital services that we offer are not available elsewhere. We are searching for a Lifeguard for our Swim Program at Prospect Center in Queensbury, NY! Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • American Red Cross life guarding
  • CPR for the Pro-Rescuer
  • Standard First Aid
  • At least 1 year of job related experience, specifically with people with developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Visually surveying client/staff engaging in aquatic activities while standing/sitting on pool deck
  • Assist client in and out of the pool
  • Adhere to standard safety practices, as well as job, department and Center policies and procedures related to safety
  • Assist clients in preparation for activities as needed, including transferring and putting on of floatation equipment
  • Assists in the proper maintenance and sanitary up keep of the pool, pool area, and locker rooms
  • Engage in pool set up and closing duties in accordance with Queensbury School pool policy (uncover/cover pool/equipment preparation)
  • Attend meetings as scheduled by Department
  • Notify supervisor of incident and complete Incident Reports when necessary
  • Monitor all waterfront equipment and report any defects with recommendations for correction to supervisor
