About The Position

The Seasonal Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety, supervision, and exceptional service experience of all members and guests at the KGCC aquatic facilities. This role actively monitors pool activity, enforces safety regulations, and delivers a premier, hospitality-driven aquatics experience consistent with Kalispel Hospitality values. Lifeguards play a critical role in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment while supporting aquatics programming and daily operations. This is a seasonal position generally going from May to September, with flexibility based on weather conditions and operations.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Obtain and maintain Work Permit Level 3
  • Lifeguard Certification (American Red Cross or equivalent)
  • CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers
  • First Aid Certification
  • Ability to swim, rescue, and lift individuals in emergency situations
  • Ability to lift up to 50–75 lbs.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and outdoor activity
  • Ability to work in sun, heat, and water environments
  • Strong visual and auditory acuity for surveillance
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent

  • Previous lifeguard or customer service experience preferred
  • Experience in private club, resort, or hospitality environments preferred
  • Strong swimming and rescue skills
  • Excellent observational and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations

Responsibilities

  • Maintain continuous, active surveillance of the pool and surrounding areas
  • Enforce all aquatic safety rules and Club policies in a professional and consistent manner
  • Respond immediately and effectively to emergencies, including water rescues and first aid situations
  • Participate in regular emergency drills and in-service trainings
  • Maintain awareness of weather, water conditions, and potential hazards
  • Provide a high level of service consistent with Kalispel Hospitality standards
  • Greet members and guests with a friendly, professional demeanor
  • Communicate pool rules, programming, and amenities clearly and positively
  • Support a family-friendly and inclusive atmosphere
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pool deck, furniture, and surrounding areas
  • Ensure pool deck is dry and free of hazards
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures
  • Monitor pool conditions including water clarity and visible safety concerns
  • Assist with swim lessons, aquatic programs, and special events as directed
  • Conduct routine water testing and accurately record chemical readings as assigned
  • Monitor and restock supplies (towels, equipment, first aid)
  • Communicate maintenance or safety concerns to Aquatics Manager and/or Clubhouse Maintenance promptly
  • Responsible for maintaining good attendance.
