About The Position

Mercy Street is currently taking applications for energetic, confident, and friendly staff to work in our Aquatics department as a Lifeguard. The Lifeguard will work in conjunction with Mercy Street teams in providing a safe, fun, relational and excellent experience for learning basic water safety and swimming. The Lifeguard position is a temporary, hourly position with great shift flexibility. This isn’t just a pool job—this is a call to serve, protect, and lead in West Dallas. Requirements

  • Current Lifeguard & CPR certification (or willingness to obtain it—training opportunities available!)
  • Confidence, calmness, and clear communication
  • Ability to lead by example while being a team player
  • A heart for service and a love for people
  • Following Jesus Christ and setting an example for others through their lifestyle.
  • Exhibiting a passion for learning and sharing the Gospel with others.
  • Agreeing to the Mercy Street Statement of Faith.

Responsibilities

  • Keep constant, active surveillance over the pool area
  • Assess the pool for hazards
  • Ensure all equipment is in place and functioning
  • Know and follow all emergency procedures
  • Respond immediately and effectively to any situation using the “safe-in-six” approach
  • Complete incident reports thoroughly and timely
  • Consistently apply and enforce pool safety rules and Mercy Street’s policies
  • Handle challenges with thoughtful solutions and a calm, objective attitude
  • Help test and balance pool chemicals and report or respond to issues as needed
  • Keep safety records up to date and equipment checks completed
  • Build authentic relationships with kids and families
  • Support other Mercy Street activities when needed
