About The Position

This position is at the Health & Fitness Center, which is part of Haywood Regional Medical Center. The Health & Fitness Center is a 54,000 square foot facility with a dedicated team of exercise specialists, certified instructors, and trainers who support the needs of the community. This role works closely with all areas within the facility to serve the needs of its members, emphasizing teamwork, critical thinking, and compassionate service to deliver high-quality programs and services.

Requirements

• Minimum age of 16 years
• Must be proficient in swimming skills covered in Swim Instructor training.
• Maintain a high level of physical fitness.
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move over 150 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
• Must be able to demonstrate the following swimming skills: Front crawl (Freestyle), Breast Stroke, Any skill covered in the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Course.

Nice To Haves

• American Red Cross CPR-AED for Lifeguards within 7 days of hire.
• American Red Cross Lifeguarding within 7 days of hire
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Starfish Aquatics Institute Swim Instructor certification required within one month of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintains order by enforcing pool rules and regulations.
• Rescues swimmers in danger of drowning or other unsafe situations.
• Provides first aid and emergency care as needed.
• Tests water chemistry and maintains cleanliness of pool and pool area.
