About The Position

This part-time position (27.5 hours per week) is responsible for serving as a lifeguard for all pool operations, providing constant surveillance of pool activities, and teaching water exercise and swimming lesson classes. The role involves ensuring swimmer safety, enforcing pool rules, performing lifesaving assistance, teaching swimming lessons, maintaining pool cleanliness and chemical balance, and keeping the pool area tidy.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • Two years’ experience working as a Lifeguard and teaching swimming lessons, OR Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills or abilities
  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
  • Ability to swim and perform lifesaving activities.
  • Red Cross Certified Lifeguard
  • Red Cross Certified Water Safety Instructor
  • Red Cross Certified Lifeguard C.P.R. and First Aid Certification (upon hire)
  • Instructor Certification

Responsibilities

  • Guards the safety of swimmers by providing constant surveillance of the entire pool area.
  • Directs and supervises the behavior of all swimmers to ensure compliance with pool safety rules.
  • Provides emergency lifesaving assistance to troubled or drowning swimmers; performs lifesaving C.P.R. and first aid in accordance with certified practices and procedures; contacts emergency medical assistance when needed; stays with victims until emergency medical assistance takes over care of victim.
  • Teaches swimming lesson classes; maintains attendance records for classes; mails certification cards for swimming lesson classes.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of the pool water; vacuums bottom of pool surface; scrubs side walls; back washes filter system; checks filter gauges and regulates water level and temperature of pool.
  • Tests the pool water Ph level, chlorine level and Bromine level as scheduled in order to ensure correct chemical balance of pool water; dispenses chemicals into the pool as needed; ensures the safety of all swimmers.
  • Maintains neatness and cleanliness of pool area; collects and disposes of trash; maintain neat and orderly pool office.
