About The Position
The YMCA is looking for energetic, dedicated individuals to join our Aquatics team and make a splash in our community! As a part-time staff member, you will receive a free individual membership or 50% off family membership and 50% discounted programs for you and your household. Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years of age. (Candidates who are 15 years old may be considered for a Junior Lifeguard position).
- 2 years of high school or the equivalent.
- Excellent communication, supervisory, and organizational skills.
- Excellent human relations skills and enthusiasm.
- Ability to relate to, welcome, and communicate with diverse groups of people regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.
- Swim 150 yards continuously, demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing.
- Stop to tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs, then continue swimming an additional 50 yards.
- Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
Nice To Haves
- Certification from the YMCA or other accredited association preferred (i.e., LGI and YMCA PYAL, etc.) or the willingness to become certified.
Responsibilities
- Maintain constant and diligent surveillance of the pool at all times and respond to emergency situations.
- Ensure safe, clean, and secure conditions for the indoor pools as well as the surrounding areas.
- Enforce all aquatics rules and policies on a fair and consistent basis.
