About The Position

The Sun Prairie YMCA is looking to add some great lifeguards to our Aquatics Department. Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, the Lifeguard actively provides a safe environment and accountability of all members and guests by maintaining constant surveillance of the pool area and responding to emergencies in accordance with the mission, strategic plan, goals and all policies and procedures of the YMCA of Dane County, Inc. and the Y-USA Best Practices.

Requirements

Ability to demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
Ability to professionally and effectively communicate with members, staff and supervisors; maintain confidentiality and exchange accurate information.
Ability to effectively interact with, lead, and motivate members who have a variety of abilities and needs.
Ability to maintain certification level of physical and mental readiness at all times.
Current Red Cross Lifeguard/CPR/AED/First Aid certification upon hire.
Y Orientation, Child Abuse Prevention, and Blood Borne Pathogen training required within 60 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

Flexibility in scheduling is preferred.
Possess or obtain within the indicated time frame the following certifications and keep all certifications current.
