About The Position

The Town of Canmore is seeking passionate individuals for casual Lifeguard & Swim Instructor positions. This role supports the safety supervision and service provision at the Aquatics Centre at Elevation Place. It's an excellent opportunity for individuals with energy, enthusiasm for aquatics, and a positive teamwork attitude to develop leadership skills while ensuring guest safety and enjoyment. Responsibilities include lifeguarding during public swims, teaching aquatics programs, and performing daily pool checks and maintenance. The position offers interaction with diverse individuals, including community members and visitors from around the world, and is part of a large aquatics team.

Requirements

National Lifeguard Pool Award
Intermediate First Aid & CPR “C”
Swim and Lifesaving Instructor certification
Possession of required certifications and documentation prior to beginning work, including driver's abstract and records checks.

Nice To Haves

Previous aquatics industry experience and knowledge
Lifesaving First Aid Instructor
National Lifeguard Instructor
Lifesaving Instructor Trainer
Pool Operator Level 1
CALA Instructor
Other aquatic fitness or specialty certifications (i.e., Kayak, Swim Coach)

Responsibilities

Support the safety supervision function at the Town of Canmore’s Aquatics Centre.
Provide services at the Town of Canmore’s Aquatics Centre at Elevation Place.
Ensure guests have fun and safe experiences.
Be part of and work with a large aquatics team.
Interact with local community members and visiting guests.
Responsible for lifeguarding during busy public swims.
Teach aquatics programs.
Perform daily pool checks and maintenance.
