About The Position

Join the Lakeland Hills Family YMCA as a Swim Instructor/Lifeguard and turn your skills into an opportunity to help others feel confident, safe, and successful in the water! This role involves teaching engaging, age-appropriate swim lessons, creating a fun and welcoming environment, supervising the pool, enforcing safety rules, and maintaining a clean and safe aquatic environment.

Requirements

• Lifeguards: At least 15 years of age.
• Certifications: current YMCA Lifeguard or equivalent.
• Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness.
• Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
• AED, CPR, First Aid certified.
• Swim Instructors: Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
• Must be a strong, competent swimmer, and be able to demonstrate freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly.
• Must be able to maintain a positive attitude towards students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Teach engaging, age-appropriate swim lessons that build confidence and water safety skills.
• Create a fun, welcoming environment where swimmers of all ages and abilities can thrive.
• Supervise the pool and respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies.
• Enforce pool safety rules while providing excellent member service.
• Encourage swimmers, celebrate their progress, and help them reach their goals.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and positive aquatic environment.
