PRN: Lifeguard Mentor Fitness Center
About The Position
Purpose of a lifeguard is to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) takes over. The Lifeguard is responsible for maintaining a safe environment, ensuring the safety of staff, members and guests in the pool area. Maintains a safe environment at all times, keeping the pool deck dry, clean, and clear of obstacles. Performs water tests on pools and spas at specified times. Reports any problems to supervisor or building manager immediately. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards. For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation. Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
Requirements
- Current lifeguard training certificate (including First Aid, AED, CPR for Professional Rescuer) from American Red Cross or equivalent nationally recognized organization. (Required)
Nice To Haves
- High School Equivalent / GED (Preferred)
- Previous lifeguard experience. (Preferred)
- Working knowledge of pool filtration systems (Preferred proficiency)
- Water Safety Instructor certification (Preferred)
