About The Position

Community Integration Services Society (CISS) is seeking compassionate and supportive individuals to join their team as Life Skills Workers. CISS is a non-profit organization with over 30 years of experience providing life skills services and support to adults with developmental disabilities. The role involves working alongside clients to help them participate in programs and activities in neighboring cities, acting as a positive role model by providing life skills training and support to achieve personal goals. This casual position offers daytime hours, promoting work-life balance.

Requirements

A Class 5 BC Driver’s License
A reliable vehicle for daily use, capable of transporting more than one passenger
Business Insurance with a minimum of 2 million liability
Valid first aid training with CPR/AED
Education, work, or volunteer experience with people with developmental disabilities
Criminal Record Clearance
Union membership is required upon hiring (BCGEU)

Nice To Haves

Experience in medication administration
Experience in providing personal care
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification
Basic understanding of behavior management
Basic understanding of pictorial symbol communication
Food Safe certification
WHMIS certification

Responsibilities

Assist clients in accessing and participating in community programs such as skating, swimming, shopping, bowling, and leisure events.
Provide behavioral support to individuals with challenging behaviors during various tasks and activities.
Utilize adaptive technology, including pushing wheelchairs or using other mobility devices.
Adapt and modify activities daily to support client inclusion.
Develop and implement new programs, establishing client goals with measurable outcomes aligned with scheduled activities.
Prepare reports, develop guidelines, analyze data, and maintain client records.
