The Life Skills Trainer provides direct support and assistance to individuals in accordance with their service or program plans. This role involves helping with socialization, behavioral development, personal care, housekeeping, recreational activities, transportation, community orientation, shopping, financial management, and other daily living activities. The trainer is responsible for accurately documenting progress, maintaining confidentiality, and managing individuals' assets. They also play a crucial role in reporting any instances of alleged abuse or neglect and ensuring the rights of the individuals served are respected. In healthcare, the trainer may accompany individuals to appointments, administer medications if assigned, monitor health, and prepare meals according to dietary plans. Maintenance duties include vehicle upkeep, housekeeping, and reporting facility or equipment repair needs. The role requires adherence to safety policies and procedures, including those related to potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
