About The Position

The Life Enrichment Supervisor is responsible for leading and overseeing the Life Enrichment Department for Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Skilled Nursing. This position develops, implements, and evaluates person-centered programs that promote residents' seven dimensions well-being (including intellectual, physical, social, spiritual, vocational, emotional, and environmental) while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements. The Life Enrichment Supervisor provides direct supervision to department staff, fosters meaningful resident engagement, and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to promote well-being and quality of life for residents throughout the continuum of care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation Therapy, Gerontology, Human Services, Social Work, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in senior living, long-term care, assisted living, memory care, or skilled nursing.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of dementia care programming and resident engagement best practices.
  • Working knowledge of state and federal regulations applicable to assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing.
  • Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and participate in resident activities throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to transport residents and accompany residents during programs and outings as needed.
  • Required to conduct indoor and outdoor activities in a variety of climates.
  • Continuous exposure to residents and others who may have contagious illness(es), are confused, or in distress.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coach, and develop Life Enrichment team members assigned to Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Skilled Nursing.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, scheduling, training, and performance management of department staff.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of quality programming across all levels of care.
  • Promote a culture of resident-centered service, teamwork, and engagement.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers, or delegate to another member of the team.
  • Develop, coordinate, and oversee a comprehensive calendar of life enrichment programs tailored to the unique needs of residents in Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Skilled Nursing.
  • Ensure programs support residents' intellectual, physical, social, spiritual, vocational, emotional, and environmental well-being.
  • Adapt activities to meet varying levels of cognitive and physical ability and interests.
  • Plan and coordinate special events, celebrations, entertainment, community partnerships, and family engagement opportunities.
  • Evaluate participation levels, resident satisfaction, and program outcomes to continuously improve services.
  • Ensure programming incorporates best practices for individuals living with dementia and other cognitive impairments.
  • Promote meaningful engagement opportunities that support residents' abilities, interests, and sense of purpose.
  • Provide guidance and education to staff regarding dementia-focused engagement techniques.
  • Maintain documentation and records required by state and federal regulations.
  • Ensure activity assessments, participation records, care plan documentation, and departmental records are completed accurately and timely.
  • Participate in surveys, inspections, and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations governing Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Skilled Nursing services.
  • Partner with Nursing, Social Services, Rehabilitation, Dining Services, Spiritual Care, and other departments to support resident well-being.
  • Participate in resident care conferences, interdisciplinary meetings, and care planning processes.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, physicians, and team members regarding engagement needs and opportunities.
  • Assist in managing department budgets, supplies, and resources.
  • Coordinate volunteer programs and community partnerships as appropriate.
  • Ensure efficient use of departmental resources while maintaining high-quality resident experiences.
