About The Position

Givens Estates, a leading continuing care retirement community in Asheville, NC, is hiring a full-time Life Enrichment Manager. The primary purpose of this position is to provide life enrichment through holistic programming encompassing the seven dimensions of wellness (emotional, vocational, physical, spiritual, intellectual, social, environmental) for our residents at all levels of care. A wide degree of creativity is expected along with outstanding interpersonal skills with a high level of compassion, energy and enthusiasm. The primary purpose of your position is to provide oversight in the programming needs of the residents in Independent Living and/or Health Services to assure that the highest degree of quality programming will be provided to our residents at all times.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required with emphasis in gerontology, health promotion, exercise physiology, music therapy, art therapy, recreational therapy or a degree in human services/social sciences or related field
  • Managers working in health services must be a certified and licensed Recreational Therapist OR certified through the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals (NCCAP) as an Activity Professional Certified (APC) or Activity Director Certified (ADC).
  • Must possess a Valid NC Driver’s license and proof of good driving record
  • 2-4 years working experience with older adult population while providing the required skills, knowledge, and abilities to fulfill the essential job responsibilities
  • 2-4 years supervisory experience ideally with managing a team with diverse skills and expertise

Responsibilities

  • Develop, promote and coordinate engaging programming with whole person wellness philosophy with Life Enrichment Director and other Givens departments
  • Supervision of life enrichment specialist and associates and other appropriate staff, to include scheduling and monitoring time clock and reports; including meeting regulations in Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living
  • Oversee the development and implementation of monthly calendar of events (on campus and off campus), diversified to reflect various educational, cultural, and ability levels of residents
  • Coordinate volunteer recruitment, assimilation, training, etc., in cooperation with the IL and Health Services life enrichment staff
  • Promote, coach, teach and facilitate appropriate scheduled life enrichment programs in groups or individual projects (Approximately 15% of your typical tasks)
  • Assist with Orientation of new residents
  • Perform any other duties and/or tasks that may be assigned on an as-needed basis by an authorized supervisor
