About The Position

Longhorn Village is seeking a candidate with a strong positive attitude toward customer service to act as a Life Enrichment (Activities) Coordinator. This person will have a genuine interest in geriatric care and be able to motivate while maintaining relationships with staff and residents. The right candidate will always strive to do the best job possible, to be creative and to work towards accomplishing facility goals. Under the supervision of the Health Center Administrator, the Life Enrichment Coordinator will develop, organize and coordinate activities, wellness programs, volunteer programs, transportation of residents and available resources to provide the highest quality of life for the residents. This should be done through effective communications.

Requirements

  • Must possess general knowledge of the needs of the senior population.
  • Must be able to read, write and follow written and verbal directions.
  • Position requires a minimum of two (2) years experience in the last five (5) years.
  • Has physical stamina, mental abilities, and emotional stability to handle high job stress coordinate and conduct activities; and supervise others.
  • Possesses good verbal and written communication skills, with functional literacy in English necessary.
  • Possesses good interpersonal skills, including group dynamics and teamwork.
  • Demonstrates genuine liking and respect of elderly.
  • Conveys cheerfulness, positive attitude, patience and ability to motivate people.
  • Possesses current driver license and good driving record.
  • Must possess and exhibit a strong positive attitude toward customer service and have a genuine interest in geriatric care and uphold the philosophy of the community.
  • Requires ability to stand and walk short and long distances for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift and/or carry objects in excess of 50 pounds.
  • Requires reaching above, below and at shoulder level.
  • Associate must be able to work in a 24 hour operation.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferably has an undergraduate degree in a related field or is nationally certified as an Activities Professional.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, organize and coordinate activities, wellness programs, volunteer programs, transportation of residents and available resources to provide the highest quality of life for the residents.
  • Oversees securing community vehicles for activity functions and/or medical appointments as necessary or requested by the Director of Health Services or the Executive Director.
  • Pursues and maintains professional contacts related to Activities Program, including medical professionals, community agencies, volunteers and clergy.
  • Maintains an Activity Community Resource File.
  • Acts as facilitator to the Resident Council.
  • Acts as facilitator to the Activity Committee, Wellness Committee, Volunteer Committee and Communications Committee.
  • Facilitates promotion of activity programs through newsletters and other appropriate media.
  • Coordinates the preparation of monthly bulletin boards and seasonal decorations.
  • Coordinates the preparation of the in-house TV system.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by authorized personnel or as may be required to meet emergency situations.
