About The Position

The Life Enrichment Coordinator is a leadership team member responsible for developing, coordinating, organizing, leading, and maintaining a quality Life Enrichment program for DaySpring Assisted Living and our Independent Living Apartments. This role uses expertise, along with staff, family, and community relationships, to create meaningful activities based on each resident’s and tenant’s strengths, abilities, and interests. DaySpring is a faith-based, Christian organization that aims to serve older adults with God’s love. A condition of employment is to read, understand, agree with, and sign our Statement of Faith. The Life Enrichment Coordinator will ensure the program meets residents’ and tenants’ social, physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual needs.

Requirements

  • Leadership experience guiding a team to reach desired outcomes, with the goal of all residents and tenants experiencing full-of-life activities.
  • Desire, experience, and training in leading activities with a senior population.
  • Passionate about impacting the lives of older adults with God’s love through a meaningful life enrichment program.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Chauffeurs license, driving a 15-passenger van for outings.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity, empathy, and an interest in working with frail and memory-impaired individuals.
  • Must be reliable, flexible, patient, caring and have a sense of humor.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with staff, residents, families, and the public.
  • Creative and self-motivated to ensure all residents and tenants are engaged in life-enriching activities encompassing their physical, social, emotional, and spiritual health.
  • Good organizational skills, with a focus on completion of activity logs to ensure documenting of resident attendance at activities.
  • Good problem-solving abilities with the ability to find ways to engage those who decline or are reluctant to participate.
  • Able to multi-task effectively.
  • Successfully complete all required background checks, reference checks, and pre-employment screenings.
  • Maintain all required certifications, licenses, and training.
  • Adhere to DaySpring’s mission, values, policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to providing compassionate, resident-centered care and life enrichment consistent with DaySpring’s Christian mission.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field.
  • Experience with PointClickCare (PCC) or similar electronic health record systems.
  • Experience working in assisted living, memory care, or long-term care settings.

Responsibilities

  • Develop monthly life enrichment calendars based on resident and tenant input, strengths, needs, and interests.
  • Evaluate the overall effectiveness of the life enrichment program and modify it as necessary to meet resident needs/interests, including updating and developing Resident Life Plans.
  • Motivate and encourage residents, tenants, and Resident Life Partners to attend and participate in scheduled programming and spontaneous experiences.
  • Uphold the Resident Bill of Rights and HIPPA, and ensure volunteers and Resident Life Partners do the same.
  • Maintain a working relationship with the DayBreak Program Coordinator and Agape.
  • Be timely in planning, carrying out, and following through on all activities, and ensure completion of all paperwork and forms.
  • Serve as a point of contact for DaySpring Independent Living Apartment tenants and Dayspring Services leadership team to communicate changes in care needs or condition.
  • Take photos of activities and events for social media and promotions.
  • Lead, model, mentor, and train Resident Life Partners to carry out the provided activities calendar and provide spontaneous activities.
  • Supervise staff on various shifts to ensure residents are engaging in activities and planned activities are conducted "Full of Life."
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, training, coaching, and work oversight to Resident Life Partners.
  • Participate in interviewing, onboarding, performance management, and corrective action processes in partnership with the Administrator.
  • Interview and assess all residents’ and tenants’ abilities/strengths at admission, including speaking with family members, to determine interests, abilities, strengths, and social history.
  • Create activity plans and train staff to implement planned and spontaneous activities, with expertise to work with older adults with a wide range of cognitive levels, including those with dementia or memory impairments.
  • Develop and implement a life-enrichment plan with measurable goals consistent with the resident’s Life Plan, including large group, small group, or 1:1 activities if necessary.
  • Participate in the DaySpring Assisted Living on-call rotation.
