About The Position

The Life Enrichment Coordinator (Memory Support) is part of the Life Enrichment team. Under the guidance of the Department’s Director, and in collaboration with other Life Enrichment Coordinators, the Life Enrichment Coordinator (Memory Support) is responsible for scheduling, coordinating, leading and providing life enrichment programing primarily to memory support residents of the Mary Schwartz Summit in an upbeat and supportive manner. Set-up and facilitate life enrichment activities including exercise, music, trivia, theatre, arts/crafts, cognitive/brain games, and cooking/baking primarily for memory support residents and as needed, other community resident populations (Independent Living, Assisted Living and Memory Support). Provide one-on-one life enrichment programming when required. Coordinate and assist with community-based outings with a focus on maintaining resident safety. Collaborate with Director and other Life Enrichment Coordinators to develop, complete, print and distribute weekly life enrichment schedules. Produce any necessary signage or written Attend staff meetings as needed, providing important information and feedback about residents’ participation and engagement in life enrichment activities. Complete applicable administrative tasks as part of setting-up and facilitating life enrichment activities, including generating Banquet Event Order Forms (BEOs) and coordinating with other departments that may be involved in the activity. Assist with coordinating and facilitating resident sign-ups. Provide general support to the Life Enrichment department including needed coverage for shifts and flexibility in scheduling (when needed). Other duties as assigned or may be necessary in a department with overlapping roles and responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Experience working with older adults and the senior population, preferably in a residential, healthcare, memory support or community-based setting.
  • Some experience working with life enrichment/activity/educational programs, or other applicable community-based experience related to supporting a specific population.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to process and organize information in various forms.
  • Ability to interact with both staff, residents and family members in an energetic, positive, pleasant, sensitive, and confidential manner.
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English in an understandable manner.
  • Can complete required trainings including CPR and First Aid within 30 days of employment.
  • Can complete Dementia-focused training within 90 days of employment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, residents and family members.
  • Computer and technical skills to include email, Microsoft Office and other computer programs needed to fulfill the role’s responsibilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college preferred.
  • Strong writing skills and newsletter production experience a plus.
