About The Position

White Oak Manor Waxhaw is looking for a Life Enrichment Assistant to enrich the lives of residents/patients by promoting physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being. The ideal candidate will be flexible and innovative, with a strong understanding of the needs of the aging population. Patience, empathy, excellent customer service, and time management skills are essential. The role requires relating professionally with residents, staff, family members, visitors, and officials, while maintaining a positive, friendly, and approachable demeanor. This is a hands-on position requiring tasks throughout the entire facility.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to work effectively with elderly patients and residents or an educational background sufficient to carry out a quality program as designated by the Life Enrichment Director.
• Genuine enthusiasm, a self-motivated and positive personality, and a willingness to learn new ideas and skills.
• A good sense of humor, patience, strong organizational skills, assertiveness, and conscientiousness.
• Ability to work collaboratively with partners, family members, and the community while maintaining a professional appearance.
• Flexibility with work hours, including evenings and weekends.

• Strong understanding of the physiological changes and resulting needs of the aging population.

Responsibilities

• Meeting with all patients/residents to determine activity program needs.
• Contributing to plan of care conferences.
• Assisting with the design, posting, and maintenance of attractive bulletin boards and calendars of scheduled activities.
• Assisting with 1:1 activities (manicures/polish, reading, etc.) and conducting group activities (bingo, concerts, parties, etc.).
• Assisting residents to and from activities.
• Keeping accurate attendance and participation records of each activity.
• Evaluating the programs' effectiveness and degree of resident involvement.
• Ensuring documentation is accurate and current.
• Assisting with the Residents Council and promoting good public relations within and outside the facility.
• Setting up decorations for seasonal holidays.
