About The Position

The primary purpose of this role is to assist the Therapeutic Activities team in providing an ongoing program of therapeutic activities that meet the needs of the individual resident. The pay for this role is $19/hr.

Requirements

Experience in Activities or Recreation.
Read, write, and speak the English language.
Ability to relate information concerning the resident.
Must possess patience and have an understanding of conditions related to infirmities of the aging and or diagnosis.
Must possess excellent communication skills.
Must be organized.
Must be flexible, working irregular hours when necessary.

Responsibilities

Complete documentation as necessary per regulation requirements.
Report all accidents and incidents ASAP and notify proper disciplines of occurrence.
Report all changes in resident condition to nurse during any activity.
Assist with recreation and activity programs for residents, family members and staff in a timely manner.
Participate in planning, implementing and completion of programs.
Work alone to complete activity/program if necessary.
Assist in publicizing programs, engaging speakers or performers.
Assist with all aspects of the newsletter.
Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Follow all work assignments/schedules in completing and performing assigned tasks.
Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, positive emphasis.
Report all complaints and grievances made by the resident.
Notify the Director or Asst. Director when you will be late or absent from work.
Follow the code of ethics and conduct in accordance to The Methodist Home of DC.
Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, and infectious materials.
Attend and participate in scheduled in-services and educational classes.
Follow Universal Precautions to encourage infection control.
Follow all safety precautions in performing duties.
Report all safety violations to appropriate disciplines.
Maintain confidentiality in accordance to The Methodist Home of DC's notice of Privacy Practice and follow HIPAA guidelines.
Treat residents with dignity and respect at all times.
Report allegations of resident abuse and or theft to proper discipline.
Honor refusal to participate in activity or outing.
