Requirements

  • Associate degree in Recreation Therapy from an accredited college or university or five (5) years of equivalent experience in a long-term care setting.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop engaging programs that meet the diverse interests and abilities of older adults.
  • Strong documentation, time management, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to provide compassionate, resident-centered service while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with recreational programming, music, arts and crafts, or other enrichment activities for older adults.
  • Knowledge of the aging process and experience working with seniors.
  • Experience supporting residents living with Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia.
  • Previous experience in senior living, healthcare, or long-term care.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and lead engaging group and one-on-one life enrichment programs that promote physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well-being for residents.
  • Develop activity calendars, organize special events and outings, and adapt programming to meet the changing interests and abilities of residents, including those living with memory impairment.
  • Complete required documentation, resident assessments, care plans, progress notes, and participation records while maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise volunteers while collaborating with nursing staff and other departments to provide person-centered programming.
  • Assist with departmental budgeting, attend care conferences and interdisciplinary meetings, and contribute ideas that enhance resident engagement across the continuum of care.
  • Build meaningful relationships with residents, families, and team members while delivering exceptional customer service and fostering a welcoming, inclusive environment.
