About The Position

The Licensing & Regulatory Affairs Manager will lead CoinFlip’s licensing strategy and regulatory engagement efforts across the United States and Canada. This role is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of money transmitter licenses, registrations, and approvals including responding to inquiries and examinations while serving as a key advisor to business leaders. The ideal candidate will possess deep experience navigating complex regulatory frameworks particularly in the money services or crypto space, building productive relationships with regulators, and managing cross-functional initiatives in highly regulated industries. This individual will play a critical role in supporting CoinFlip’s ongoing regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in licensing, regulatory affairs, compliance, legal operations, or government relations within a highly regulated industry.
  • Demonstrated experience managing regulatory licenses and filings.
  • Experience interacting directly with regulators and governmental agencies.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks related to financial services, payments, money transmission, fintech, or digital assets.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a risk-based mindset.
  • Experience or demonstrated desire to learn how to effectively to implement automation and AI.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation, submission, maintenance, and renewal of licenses, registrations, and regulatory approvals across the United States and Canada.
  • Manage all aspects of licensing applications, including regulatory filings, supporting documentation, corporate disclosures, and personnel registrations.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive licensing inventory and regulatory calendar to ensure timely renewals and reporting obligations. Experience in utilizing automation or AI to assist with this will be necessary.
  • Work with Assistant General Counsel to coordinate licensing efforts related to new products, services, acquisitions, partnerships, and market expansion initiatives.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for regulators and governmental agencies.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with regulatory authorities and industry stakeholders.
  • Monitor and analyze emerging laws, regulations, guidance, enforcement actions, and policy developments impacting cryptocurrency, payments, money transmission, AML, and fintech operations.
  • Provide regulatory guidance and risk assessments to senior leadership and business stakeholders.
  • Support responses to regulatory examinations, inquiries, audits, investigations, and information requests.
  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, Product, Operations, Finance, and Executive Leadership to assess the regulatory implications of business initiatives.
  • Identify licensing requirements and regulatory risks associated with entering new jurisdictions or launching new products.
  • Prepare executive-level briefings and recommendations regarding regulatory developments and licensing strategies.
  • Support regulatory due diligence efforts for strategic partnerships, mergers, acquisitions, and commercial opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Compliance teams to ensure licensing obligations are reflected in operational controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Support regulatory examinations, audits, and remediation efforts.
  • Maintain accurate licensing records and document repositories.
  • Develop and implement scalable processes to improve regulatory tracking, reporting, and governance.
  • Contribute to internal training and awareness initiatives related to regulatory requirements.
  • Lead cross-functional regulatory projects and initiatives.
  • Mentor and support licensing and compliance personnel as the team grows.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts to enhance efficiency and regulatory readiness.
