About The Position

The Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors (LSLBC) is seeking an entry-level or experienced Licensing Analyst for its Licensing Division. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with state statutes and regulations governing contractor licensing. The analyst will be responsible for reviewing applications, verifying credentials, monitoring active licenses, and assisting with renewals, all while guiding applicants and licensees through the process. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to public protection by ensuring that only qualified contractors are licensed to work in the state. It provides diverse responsibilities beyond typical administrative tasks and serves as an excellent entry point into a career in regulatory affairs or public administration within a dynamic and impactful environment.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience in the issuance, maintenance, or reinstatement of licenses; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR A bachelor's degree.
  • Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply laws, rules, and policies.
  • Proficiency with data entry, recordkeeping, and office technology.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience reviewing financial or legal documentation is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and explain licensing laws, rules, and policies to applicants and the public.
  • Review and analyze license applications for accuracy and completeness.
  • Process payments for fees and fines.
  • Conduct investigations and interviews to verify eligibility.
  • Assist contractors in determining license type and examination requirements.
  • Analyze financial statements, bonds, and property documents for compliance.
  • Verify credentials, corporate documents, and insurance coverage.
  • Prepare official records and recommendations for Board/Agency review.
  • Assist licensed companies with changes to classifications and qualifying parties.
  • Track compliance and maintain accurate records.
  • Verify credentials to reciprocating states.
  • Assist companies during renewal processes.
  • Verify compliance with insurance, continuing education, and qualifying party requirements.
  • Communicate with other divisions and agencies regarding licensing and compliance.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
