About The Position

US Heart and Vascular are in search of a Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our team at Memorial Katy Cardiology in Houston, TX. This role involves providing patient care as a health care team member within the scope of the license. The nurse will be familiar with nursing policies, procedures, and protocols and implement them appropriately in patient care. Responsibilities include providing instructions to patients regarding treatment plans, medications, and follow-up needs via phone, and communicating effectively with other healthcare team members, including accurate documentation in patient charts. The role also requires following OSHA regulations and safety guidelines, maintaining crash carts, and auditing medications and defibrillators quarterly. Adherence to HIPM policies and procedures, respecting patient confidentiality, and ordering supplies are also key duties. The nurse will handle patient phone calls, refer information to physicians or providers per protocol, and return calls to patients to communicate treatment plans, documenting all interactions. Scheduling patient office visits, coordinating with Front Office Staff, and approving pharmacy refills per protocol are also part of the role. Additionally, the nurse will clean and disinfect equipment/instruments, assist in stress tests, utilize correct patient consent for stress testing, and be familiar with emergency treatment equipment and protocols, responding calmly and efficiently during emergencies. Assisting with the emergency equipment monthly supply checklist and initiating training for new LVN team members are also expected. The role includes reviewing PT/INRs, communicating results and medication changes, reviewing remote patient pacemaker and defibrillator transmissions, and communicating urgent messages when necessary.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current Texas LVN license
  • Current CPR certification

  • One year of nursing experience is preferred.
  • Cardiology Medical Office experience desirable.

Responsibilities
