The mission of JWCH Institute is to improve the health status and well-being of under-served segments of the population of Los Angeles Area through the direct provision or coordination of health care, health education, services, and research. The MLK Recuperative Care Center (RCC) is an Interim Housing program that assists homeless, medically compromised individuals to recover and improve their health conditions. These individuals may also suffer from mental health and substance abuse issues, sometimes causing behaviors such as yelling, cussing, and outbursts of anger. The role of each staff at MLK RCC is to assist the client in overcoming barriers and increasing coping skills to decrease negative behaviors. Within the regulatory scope of practice and under the direction of the Program Director, the Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) assists in the provision of direct patient care by performing routine patient care procedures, technical and supportive functions in the recuperative care setting.
