Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) Managed Care is hiring Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) to join our team at the Wheeler Unit, located in Plainview, TX. At TTUHSC, our LVNs are vital members of a multidisciplinary healthcare team providing safe, compassionate, and competent care within a correctional healthcare setting. About the Wheeler Unit The Wheeler Unit offers a fast-paced clinical environment where LVNs play a critical role in daily patient care, emergency response, chronic disease management, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Nurses are empowered to utilize their assessment and critical-thinking skills while contributing to positive patient outcomes.
Requirements
- Current Vocational Nurse License in the State of Texas, or ability to transfer license to Texas, or scheduled to complete a program of vocational nursing within 120 days of applying for a position.
- Current CPR certification.
- Graduated from an approved accredited nursing program.
- New graduates must pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX- PN) on the first attempt.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications, perform assessments, and monitors patients’ health conditions to ensure adherence to care plans.
- Identify and report changes in patient conditions, contributing to problem identification and the development of patient care goals.
- Prepare and operate essential medical equipment for procedures, examinations, and treatments.
- Accurately record patient assessments, interventions, and medication administration in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Work closely with healthcare providers and correctional staff to ensure coordinated care in a secure environment.
- Ensure compliance with all healthcare policies, safety standards, and regulations, including proper medication storage and direct observation protocols.
- Assist in medical emergencies, triaging patients, and provide immediate care when necessary.
