Requirements
- A valid California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) license is required.
- High School diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED, HiSET) is required.
- One (1) year of nursing experience is required, preferably treating individuals with mental illness in an inpatient setting. (Clinical nursing school rotations may be substituted for a portion of this work experience).
Nice To Haves
- An associate degree in nursing or a social science field is preferred.
- One (1) year of medication administration experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct nursing care to clients and supervises nursing staff during the assigned shift to ensure safe, high-quality care.
- Plans, organizes, and directs daily nursing activities by making shift assignments and monitoring service delivery.
- Observes, documents, and communicates changes in clients’ physical and mental conditions to the Program Manager and attending physician or nurse practitioner.
- Administers and documents medications in accordance with prescribed orders and verifies the receipt of all ordered medications from the pharmacy.
- Maintains accurate and timely nursing documentation, prepares weekly client summaries as assigned, and ensures compliance with medical record and regulatory requirements.
