About The Position

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide developmentally appropriate and age-specific direct and indirect patient care. They perform designated procedures and treatments requiring specific knowledge and technical expertise within the LVN scope of practice and in accordance with established policies, procedures, protocols, techniques, and guidelines. The LVN utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize customer service in a manner that supports excellence in customer service, safe patient care, and professionalism. They contribute to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population, and perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a school of Vocational Nursing.
  • Minimum of six months of experience as an LVN required.
  • Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality.
  • Able to assemble, troubleshoot, and calibrate patient care equipment.
  • Able to perform technical patient care activities as required.
  • Able to use computer and software programs necessary to the position.
  • Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others.
  • Able to work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure.
  • Able to lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate.
  • Able to accept direction.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone.
  • Able to think critically.
  • Able to perform basic math functions.
  • Able to manage multiple assignments effectively.
  • Able to work well under pressure.
  • Able to problem solve.
  • Able to organize and prioritize workload.
  • Able to recall information with accuracy.
  • Able to pay close attention to detail.
  • Able to document legibly in medical record.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care.
  • Able to hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone.
  • Able to identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care.
  • Able to see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position.
  • Able to discern temperature variances through touch.
  • Active California Vocational Nursing license (LVN) required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association required.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum one year of clinical experience in area of specialty preferred.
  • California Intravenous (IV) certification for designated areas preferred.
