About The Position
The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) will work in the Medical Surgical department, primarily on night shifts. This is a full-time position requiring 12-hour shifts. The LVN will be responsible for a range of patient care duties, including monitoring vital signs, assisting with daily living activities, preparing patients for procedures, and educating patients and families on post-discharge care. The role involves working under the supervision of Registered Nurses (RNs) and reporting patient care issues directly to them.
Requirements
- Current and valid state license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse.
- Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
- IV certification upon hire.
Responsibilities
- Measure and record blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, and oxygen saturation
- Help patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, and toileting
- Assist with turning, positioning, and ambulating patients to prevent bedsores and promote recovery
- Observe patients for side effects or adverse reactions to medications and report findings to an RN or physician
- Monitor patients for changes in condition (e.g., pain levels, skin color, or behavior)
- Recognize early warning signs of complications and report them to an RN or physician
- Prepare patients for tests or procedures by ensuring they understand the process and are physically ready
- Teach patients and families about basic post-discharge care, such as wound care, medication schedules, and managing chronic conditions
- Work under the supervision of RNs and report directly to them regarding patient care issues
