About The Position

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) plays a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care within various healthcare settings across the United States. This position focuses on providing direct nursing care, with a specialized emphasis on wound healing and management to promote patient recovery and prevent complications. The LVN collaborates closely with physicians, registered nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans. Through meticulous assessment, documentation, and patient education, the LVN ensures that wound care protocols are followed effectively to optimize healing outcomes. Ultimately, the LVN contributes to enhancing patient comfort, safety, and overall health by applying clinical expertise and compassionate care.

Requirements

  • Current and valid Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of employment within the United States.
  • Completion of an accredited vocational nursing program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of wound care principles and techniques.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare team members.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Wound Care (e.g., Wound Care Certified - WCC) or related specialty credentials.
  • Experience working in wound care clinics, long-term care facilities, or home health settings.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and documentation software.
  • Additional certifications such as IV therapy or phlebotomy.
  • Continuing education in wound healing advancements and nursing best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive wound assessments and document findings accurately to monitor healing progress.
  • Administer prescribed wound care treatments, including dressing changes, debridement assistance, and application of topical medications.
  • Monitor patients for signs of infection or complications related to wounds and report changes promptly to the healthcare team.
  • Educate patients and their families on wound care techniques, hygiene, and preventive measures to support recovery and reduce recurrence.
  • Maintain detailed and timely patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and adjust individualized care plans based on patient needs and responses.
  • Ensure adherence to infection control standards and safety protocols during all nursing procedures.
